Design and Development
Shopify Powers the Commerce. You Own the Experience.
A standard Shopify theme launches quickly but caps layout, speed, and how far the shopping experience can go. Our headless Shopify development services keep Shopify as the engine for products, inventory, cart, and checkout, and build a custom storefront for everything shoppers actually see. Your team keeps the Shopify admin it already knows.
Shopify headless development separates the storefront from the commerce engine. Shopify still manages products, pricing, customers, and checkout, while a custom front end pulls that data through the Storefront API and controls every page. Shoppers get a faster, more distinctive store, and running it gets no harder.
Plenty of teams can connect a front end to an API. As a headless Shopify agency, Webugol begins with the questions that decide whether a rebuild pays off: where shoppers drop off, which pages carry the revenue, and what your current theme actually prevents you from doing.
Shopify remains the commerce core. These are the pieces that sit around it:
Product data is only half of a good storefront. For rich editorial content we pair Shopify with a content layer, using headless CMS development to build a dedicated platform around your content. If the new store also needs AI-driven features such as smarter search or product recommendations, our AI MVP development team builds them on the same APIs.

Each phase ends with something you can open and judge before the next one starts.
Phase 1
We review your current theme, apps, and analytics to see where conversion drops, which apps are adding weight, and what the new storefront needs from Shopify’s data. You receive a written plan before any build begins.
Phase 2
We decide the framework, hosting, data fetching, and caching approach, and which Shopify features stay native, checkout above all.
Phase 3
Templates are designed and built on a staging storefront connected to your real product data, so you review actual products, not placeholders.
Phase 4
Connected systems go in, and we test carts, discount codes, variants, markets, and the handoff to checkout across devices.
Phase 5
We cut over with redirects in place, watch conversion and speed under live traffic, and keep a rollback ready until the new storefront has proven itself.
A fast, beautiful storefront still needs traffic to matter. As a headless Shopify development company with a marketing team down the hall, Webugol plans the build and the acquisition together, so tracking, product feeds, and landing pages are ready on day one.
Headless stores tend to fail in the same places: discount logic, variant availability, localized pricing, and the handoff to checkout. Our headless Shopify developers plan for those from the start instead of discovering them after launch.
Merchandisers keep managing products, prices, and inventory in the admin they already know. We only change what shoppers see.
Every architecture choice and integration is written down, so a new developer can pick the project up quickly, whether they work for you or for us.
It is a setup where Shopify runs the commerce side of the store, including products, inventory, cart, and checkout, while a separate custom front end handles everything shoppers see and touch. The two communicate through Shopify’s APIs.
Headless Shopify pricing has three parts: your Shopify plan, the one-time build of the custom storefront, and ongoing hosting and maintenance. The build scales with the number of templates, integrations, and markets involved. A headless build costs more than a theme-based store, which is why we check first whether you actually need one, and then give you a written quote after a scoping call.
Timing follows the same factors as cost: template count, integrations, and number of markets. After scoping you receive a written timeline split into the phases above, so you can see when each review point lands.
It can, but it is not automatic. Faster pages and tailored shopping flows help when speed or layout limits are what is holding sales back. The audit identifies whether that is true for your store before you commit to a build.
For many stores a well-built theme is enough. Headless earns its cost when you need layouts a theme cannot deliver, several storefronts or markets, heavy custom integrations, or performance a theme cannot reach. If yours is a theme case, we will say so.
Theme work relies mostly on Shopify’s templating language, while headless adds API design, a separate front end, and hosting. A theme developer who has built headless storefronts before may be enough; if not, specialist headless Shopify developers spare you from learning on a live store. We can also work alongside your existing developer.
Checkout stays on Shopify, along with the back-office tools behind it. Apps that change what appears on the storefront usually have to be replaced with API-based equivalents, and we map that out during the audit.
Yes. Many stores keep editorial content in WordPress and feed it into the new storefront through headless WordPress development. If that WordPress site needs a faster home first, our WordPress migration service handles the move.
